Astrid Aagesen Art Deco tobacco jar
Heavy pewter tobacco jar designed by Ivar Jonsson and produced by Astrid Aagesen in Helsingborg 1935.
(A jar of the same model, produced in 1932 wears the stamp: comp IJ - composition Ivar Jonsson).
Astrid Aagesen (1883 - 1965), born in Denmark, studied at Kunstindustriskolen for Kvinder in Copenhagen and was further educated in germany, Norway, Switzerland, Italy and France. Aagesen moved to Helsingborg in 1918 and opened her own workshop in the city in 1920. She worked mainly in tin but also in copper and silver. Aagesen was awarded a gold medal at the Paris exhibition in 1925.

Nils Fougstedt for FAK

In 1924 Nils Fougstedt and Estrid Ericson opened Firma Svenskt Tenn, what was to become the internationally reknown interior design company in Stockholm. Nils Fougsted was a respected pewter (tenn) artist but he also worked with bronze for FAK - Fabriksaktiebolaget Kronsilver. This patinated bowl is probably produced in the late 1920s or early 30s.
